In recognition of Women’s History Month, I wanted to do more than simply acknowledge the occasion. I saw it as a chance to uplift a local woman owned business and highlight a story that reflects the strength and perseverance of so many women in our community. That is why I chose to spotlight La Mochila City.

As a graduate of ICON CDC’s Entrepreneur Training Program, the owner of La Mochila City gained tools to help structure and grow the business. But her journey has been shaped by more than just business challenges. She has faced and overcome deeply personal struggles including assault, multiple robberies, and the ongoing pressure of being a woman in business. Through all of this, she has continued to build her brand with resilience, creativity, and purpose.

This spotlight was created to honor her journey and bring awareness to the real experiences behind the storefront. Featuring her during Women’s History Month was a way to celebrate not only the business but the strength behind it.
